Honestly I'm just hoping that when the bubble bursts we'll shift to local, open models, and the whole idea of "agents" will either go away or significantly mature into something a little less insane than treating a chatbot like a local user.
Show Postlike fwiw I do think it would be cool if taking a demanding a totalizing abstinence stance on ai would work and we purged it from our society, and I hope those fighting for it win, but I have to just be honest that I think that's a lost battle and I'd rather fight the front where it is
Show Posti don't support the use but there is nothing in this quoted passage (or most of this post) that i disagree with beyond that. it is a structural problem that goes much deeper than AI use. and the AI use is becoming more deeply intertwined in a way that's hard to ignore or separate on a code end
Show Post"dont worry, we didn't use LLMs for real art, like writing, or graphics, or sound, we only used it for dumb gross useless basic shit like programming" always the funnest thing to read as a programmer, as someone whose whole career is based on code, whose handwritten library changed the industry etc
Show PostI love the “not everyone can afford headphones” line. As if it’s obligatory to play shitty TikTok’s on public transport and you can’t possibly be expected to go 10 minutes without assaulting your eyeballs with mindless crap
