My neph was almost refused EHCP as he was above average ability. Luckily the school and Ed Psych were able to evidence that he was still way behind his own potential levels and this was impacting him academically. He ended up in a grammar school eventually, but 2yrs 'late' (end of Y8 transfer).
Show PostThis! It's also damnably hard - though not impossible (yet) - to get an EHCP as many LAs look at ability against age expected levels/peers. You need a fab EP who can evidence high cognitive ability to contrast with middling academic achievement. It's a mess.

While watching by the river Thames the boat race last Sunday, I noticed how dirty the river was, including seeing a dead rat floating around and a lot of other stuff. It don’t use to be like that years ago.
