Praying for peace and power to the protestors at Garvaghy Road (I’ve been there and worked with kids in Lurgan in 1998 as part of an int’l peace program) — and praying for a return to sensibility to the marchers. May they find a more positive pathway to express pride in their history and identity.

The University of Exeter has confirmed that it won’t proceed with compulsory redundancies “at this time”. This means colleagues do not need to complete the pro forma, and there will be no selection process.

This is a really important connection to draw. Orgreave often gets discussed in isolation, but placing it in the longer history of colonial policing tactics adds a lot of clarity. Thanks for resurfacing this.
