On the contrary, surviving a genocide brings a responsibility to advocate against all genocide, no matter who's doing it, who it's against, or what the 'justification' for it is. I can't rail against my people's genocide and stay silent about someone else's genocide. That makes me the asshole.

to speak up as everyone else does. And I say this as a survivor of the Canadian Indigenous genocide. Being a genocide survivor doesn't give you special exemption from civic responsibility.
