Of course, Chagall was a distinctively Jewish artist. He was also an Eastern European artist, and refusing to place him in dialogue with non-Jewish Eastern European art and culture means consenting to the right-wing nationalist framing whereby Jews are not really part of Eastern European culture.

Postu gösterI do wish there were more focus on how the ad is not just antisemitic, but transphobic, deliberately referencing the gross "Kamala Harris is for they/them" ad from 2024, showing how this form of "America first" anti-Israel politics leads you to the Tucker Carlson right-wing rather than to the left.
Postu gösterThis ad is indeed, antisemitic, transphobic, and indefensible, but also, it is being run by Cenk Uygur, a known antisemitic wrecker with no link to the Abdul El-Sayed campaign. It isn't really comparable to the Ramaswamy ad, which his campaign is paying to run.
