I am actually sympathetic to this latest announcement. I guess they need to do that or start charging readers generally for entry or cut opening hours.

I’d be interested to see someone do the figures on how much press coverage this gets compared to how much the cyberattack (which also had its roots in underfunding - the BL was running a patchwork of very old systems) has got. Particularly bearing in mind the fixes for the latter are still ongoing.

Marginally irritated at people posting their horror at the idea of some of the BL reading rooms being turned into co-working spaces, where payment is required, and not making the mental leap as to *why* BL management might be considering steps like this. Clue: Years of underfunding.
