🧬 Excited to share our new paper, out today in Nature Cell Biology! 📄 www.nature.com/articles/s41... This work started with a very simple and intriguing question: how can microtubules apply sufficient force in the nucleus to promote chromatin mobility, in particular DNA double stand breaks? 🤔 🧵

Do they change gene expression? Linking gains to target genes (ENCODE-rE2G; Gschwind et al., 2026), we found that genes with more cis-regulatory gains were consistently more likely to be upregulated in humans across all examined cross-species transcriptome datasets.

Half a century ago, King & Wilson proposed that humans differ from chimpanzees mainly through changes in gene regulation. In our new preprint, we used AlphaGenome to map such changes genome-wide, across tissues of the human body! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Each human (resting CD4+ T) cell has about 2 meters of DNA crammed into the nucleus. Therefore, the challenge is not just storing DNA but folding it in a way that preserves function. rdcu.be/fsd7v

How can histone acetyl-transferase acetylate a specific histone tail residue ? Using cryo-EM, we captured the MSL complex in a stable post-catalytic state, visualising the acetyl group on H4K16, a central mark for gene regulation authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S...
