    I came across someone like that once, they argued that since there's surely no other difference, anti-AI people must think there's a "soul" in humans, which is "metaphysical nonsense" Seeing someone using reddit-style atheism as a pro-AI argument always left me dumbfounded lol

    I’ve seen so many elaborate apologetics for this, all of which are inevitably anchored in reductionist redefinitions of semantics, cognition, and even language itself. It’s such a ridiculous magical thinking rhetorical game that’s being played, and for what? Abdication of human cognitive ability?

    Yep, it's the same I Can See Everything type of White girl innocence thing, that's also used to pretend younger White male rapists and mass shooters are just poor smol beans who aren't responsible for their actions. Even women in abusive relationships are responsible for their actions in the world.
