Cults are almost always just abusive family dynamics writ large. A lot of people who end up in cults come from abusive families and are repeating that dynamic in another "family" that often starts off seeming loving. It's pretty common for cults to call themselves families 🙅‍♀️

You need a better/more relevant dictionary for this. "Highest level of human cognition" has a pretty specific meaning in the context of artificial neural networks & theoretical synthetic intelligence. Furthermore, as a computer scientist you are woefully ill-equipped to judge *human* epistemology.
