I would be remiss not to share that my brilliant husband Josh (not on Bluesky) will also be joining VUMC as the Medical Director of New Technology and Strategy for Vanderbilt Medical labs, and ID diagnostics service chief. He will be looking for a Leishmania genomics-focused postdoc.

Ok, part two of my exciting news: I’ll be starting my lab as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt next July, focusing on functional genomics of congenital syphilis.

How about ESBLs where pip/taz is better than ceftriaxone? I became more supportive of pip/taz when I realised that for patients with likely GNB sepsis pip/taz had probably 95%+ activity compared to around 85% with ceftriaxone. And that's not because of Pseudomonas.

Absolutely thrilled to share that my NIAID Director’s New Innovator Award (DP2) has been funded. I’ll be using functional genomics, biochemistry, and immunological techniques to understand the mechanisms and drivers of immune evasion by Treponema pallidum, the bacterium that causes syphilis.
