    Hey lovelies, I'll probably do a master list of as many shuake writers as possible and their statements regarding their work on unauthorised g/drives or if they can get their work directly from the author or not. I'm sure it won't won't move the needle on the unauthorised g/docs or fandom attitude

    The sheer amount of crowdsourced effort being put into stuffing fanfics in random repositories is wild when pretty much every fic writer I've spoken to is like 'yeah if you really want something I've written just lmk and I'll mirror it somewhere for you.'

    I am going through assorted searches like "fic google" and "ao3 google drive" and going BLOCKETY BLOCK BLOCK. Yes, reposting without permission violates copyright. Yes, fanfic has copyright to violate.

    Not gonna touch the fic discourse anymore but as someone working in the GLAM sector, let me take this chace to point out that ”archive” doesn’t automatically mean unrestricted access. Some materials need permissions and others can be only viewed on-site.
