I don't think this approach to localisation is flat out wrong. My all time favourite FFXIV has a similar approach and it works perfectly. tldr I disagree with complete cultural localisation when culture is inherent to the character dynamics and the narrative. If it's not tho then go wild man.

But just to be clear I by no means think it's "A WAR ON CHRISTMAS" like right wing grifters do. Fuck those guys. I get the reasoning to change because Christmas isn't celebrated the same way in Japan as in Christian majority countries. But so does every other non-western country like where I'm from.

Mind you I haven't played the global version in a year so memory is a bit fuzzy. Dropping honorifics, changing long established nicknames, merry christmas into happy holidays etc. Like I totally understand why they do it but I simply disagree with that approach to localising for uma specifically.

They are the most terminally online since the flip phone days!! Of course her speech sounds brainrotted. The purpose is no one gets what she's saying. Either you get with the groove and just feel it or try deciphering from context clues.
