    Yes. And this is precisely what a paper does if they have a RWng bias but they benefit from denying that bias. After all, their audience is mostly libs. If they admitted they were RWng, what wd happen to their business? Tho they may believe they're lib biased bc RWngers have told them so repeatedly.

    The reason: RWingers have worked the refs at MSM for generations, accusing MSM of Left bias. They've repeated it til MSM editors believe it. Bc repeated propaganda works on every1, editors too.     When I worked in WaPo Opinions in 2017-2018, senior editors specifically told junior editors not to factcheck Marc Thiessen and other MAGA columnists, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to publish anything by them at all, and “we need them for intellectual diversity.”

    You have to read halfway through the original article to find any reference of other politicians (Republicans) doing the same thing, and that story was reported by a local Alaskan TV outlet, not warranting mention in the Paper of Record.

    I buy that “this story is interesting to readers and we should publish it even if Trump is going to take advantage.” What I don’t get, though, is why the Times doesn’t think it more important to make clear to readers that this strategy—which voters rightly object to!—is widespread on both sides.
