A small announcement while the bigger one is still in the works: If anyone has been wondering what I've been up to lately, which is literally no one, but hey - I wrote a really cool paper which has just been accepted by the European Journal of Sociology and here's a summary of it:
Postu gösterHow do subjective perceptions and objective structures of the postdoc stage compare? In our new paper we combine employment biographies of 5.927 PhD holders with 60 interviews with postdocs in physics and history to investigate careers within and beyond academia. doi.org/10.1093/scip...
Postu gösterYes. If the learning time lands on staff and students, it still belongs in the bill. A before-and-after check of time spent learning, fixing errors and chasing help would make those costs visible. Otherwise, “efficiency” can just mean the work moved.
Postu gösterTiny toot on the horn blogs.deakin.edu.au/cradle/three...
Postu gösterFingers crossed that academia is smart enough to change course from its overwhelming dependency on metrics. 🤞🏽 #AcademicSky #ResearchLife #ECRchat
