The ensloppification of academic publishing is a threat to many existing processes and norms. Just the time sunk into policing for genAI-written / referenced papers by editors and reviewers makes me headasplodey.

In some modest but very pleasing work news, I have started a 12 month contract as a Lecturer in Public Policy, Teaching Specialist at the University of Melbourne. Very much looking forward to working with the public policy and political science staff and students here.

I've been trying to find highly cited statisticians using Google Scholar, but it's full of names that I don't recognise. Whenever I click on them, I see they have 5+ global burden of disease papers with thousands of citations ... and thousands of authors. Some kind of author weighting is needed.
