Stratified by age. Older academics have either found places in the city to live or choose to live in a rustic village. Younger often have long commutes or even split families living in two different cities with long distance travel.

So I went looking for a book to explore. I ended up with Gerald Gaus's The Open Society and Its Complexities, which I'm now reading and annotating, paying particular attention to the interplay between empirical evidence, theoretical models, and non-empirical methodological principles.
