    if I may be sappy: the 2024 guide is not the best document we've ever written, but it is the one I'm most proud of. it was 4 days post-loss, MAGA was ascendant, panic and despair were building. it was our job to tell people there was a path forward even if we could barely see it ourselves. so we did

    There's a thing that happens in politics where elected officials realize that a previously unknown or disparaged tactic works, and they all suddenly adopt it. (Think of the sudden vogue for cursing for emphasis in the last few years.) This feels like a substantively significant example of that.

    Lots of the most prominent members of the Dem class of 2026 are now just stating plainly, over and over, that they feel no obligation to perform rituals of civility for odious scumbags. It's a tectonic shift in political messaging, and one with—it seems to me—real policy implications.
