We did a lesson where they did one problem out of three choices together at the board and then went back to their seats to do the other two independently. I feel like they asked more questions of each other at the boards knowing they would need to do something on their own soon.

Postu gösterI am very clear that students are free to use ANY math strategies to solve the problem. They do not have to use the strategy they think I want them to use. #iTeachMath
Postu gösterIt usually comes up when they are looking for validation for their answer. When I see this, I translate it to permission to stop thinking. The proof and exploration of other solutions is often richer than the original problem.
