It's an age-old question. Younglings come with new methods; old farts like me struggle to keep up. Older people who give up on that struggle should refrain from mentoring younger ones.

Postu gösterA few points: 1. Current Google AI is good enough to brainstorm with, I find, over quite obscure topics. 2. No one should type key new ideas into chatbots if they don't want to be scooped. 3. We are already at the point where researchers should archive all AI sessions that are on-topic.
Postu gösterA supervisor has real skin in the game when they sign off on a thesis. An LLM has no problem cheerfully validating a dead-end premise all the way into the viva.
