  It is **absolutely** nonsense, patriarchy predates everything but quiet literally the village itself, the oppression of nozy neighbors and custom itself. It is bewilderingly old, literally pre-historic. When the first states arrived? patriarchy was waiting to co-opt them.

  It's always so weird to be when people try to make patriarchy the fault of capitalism. Like *patriarchy*? The longstanding, nearly universal oppressive force that well predates the economic system by thousands of years? Like capitalism taps into existing oppressive forces, it didn't create them

  This is also why when we get informed consent on paper in the UK we’ll need to spend the first few years arguing with the NHS like “No, you CALL it informed consent but this person still has power over me and hasn’t been punished for abusing it” before we get ACTUAL informed consent

  And the thing is I can't even entirely blame people for taking up this approach. People DO act like some things are more important than others. Patriarchy had to be a tool of white Western capitalist colonialism because otherwise it was simply not worth taking seriously.
