malfoid is just a variation of "draco in leather pants." the only reason a generic tsundere female!malfoy didn't take off as much earlier (tho it definitely existed, i don't even have to look it up to know it was already a thing) is bc fandom spaces *heavily* favor male characters

harry potter still consistently tops the most popular fics on AO3 & has barely budged at all over the years of trans people begging people to stop interacting with the fandom. malfoy is one of the most popular characters. bigots are not just now discovering transformative works, they've BEEN there

anakin-posting, malfoid, etc. are not new phenomena, they're just new expressions of old phenomena that have festered in fandom culture for years. y'all just pretended they weren't representative, or insisted "don't like don't read, fuck them oversensitive kids" was all the moderation anyone needed

nazi l0lic0ns have been a thing all along. the pr0st@sia guy borrows a lot of his language & framing from online fandom spaces. "fiction doesn't affect reality." Black fans who take issue with racist fanfics are far more likely to be driven out than people who write racist fanfics.

turns out refusing to remove sex pests and racists from your spaces because of a commitment to a laissez-faire anti-intellectualism where you pretend the content you produce & consume is apolitical and all critique or boundary-placing is censorship is just a right wing rhetorical frame to begin with
