    Fanfic is one of the last nice things left of the old internet. It exists because corporations who own the IP we all write and read about treat it as harmless to their bottom line. We share it for free because we want to and because we have to. Don't become a threat to an IP's ability to make $$$.

    Also worth pointing out that the website that is generating all this fanfic copyright discourse is almost certainly a phishing scam. Do not submit any personal information to that website. Do not even click the link.

    If enough people start trying to copyright their fanfic based on IP, all that's going to happen is corporations who own that IP will stop looking the other way at AO3. This is how you get Anne Rice suing fanfic writers 2.0. This is how you get AO3 and fanfic dot net shut down completely.
