    This is a great example of "everyone knows about this, you're just 23," so I hope the OP is 23. One of the main things wrong with America is that conservatives *know about the socialist left's vision for education* (and the moderate left's vision) and work relentlessly to stop it at all age levels.

    The "socialist Left" has a vision for the content of publicly funded education that dates back centuries, that was discussed by philosophers people still read, that was implemented sufficiently to give a bunch of beet-eating peasants Sputnik, and that still shapes education policy in half the world.
