    I have seen this creep where councillors say “I have to get permission” or “the mayor is our spokesperson.” NO!! The only obligation is to be clear you are speaking on behalf of yourself and to not break any actual laws! Otherwise why the heck do we even have councillors?!?

    Since we have a new batch of city councillors coming in I want to say: YOU ARE ALLOWED TO TALK TO MEDIA WITHOUT GETTING PERMISSION FROM ANYONE ELSE. ***YOU*** were elected to represent voters. You are not a member of a party or a slate that has its own internal structure!! You are allowed to talk!!
