    extremely important for people who have self harm issues as well. it can do wonders to help overcome shame and learn to love your body. i don’t hide my body for other people’s sake nobody should have to. whether you think my skin is problematic or not is immaterial it’s not your choice to make

    i actually had someone block me once for arguing that bluesky shouldn’t censor pictures of me where my scars are visible obviously being reminded of self harm can trigger episodes, but it’s also worth considering that seeing people you respect unashamed to have history with self harm is also

    underrepresented forms of diversity. most mental illnesses aren’t visible immediately visible, self harm is a rare case where that isn’t true in an ideal world nobody would have SH scars, but we don’t live in an ideal world. some people have scars, folks need to get used to seeing them
