    The idea of reinvesting speeding fines locally is an excellent one. But this council still does not treat speeding and dangerous driving as a public safety issue, and as something that damages communities and inhibits the freedoms of people who aren't in cars. We *have* to change this mindset!

    Don't let the bastards grind you down. We desperately need a citywide education programme on the benefits of trees and nature, to stop people complaining about leaves, 'weeds', and things that are generally good for us and the planet. Well done for doing the right thing.

    I was proud to speak in support of a Lib Dem motion at Council last night on reinvesting speeding fines into local road safety initiatives. Serious work needs to be done to properly respond to and act on residents' experiences of dangerous driving - currently we fob them off with bad stats.

    It’s so tiring the way every penny of #ActiveTravel funding has to be fought for, and then fought to be retained. Every penny spent on walking and cycling is returned fivefold. Every penny spent on roads will struggle to break even. @libdemcyclewalkwheel.org.uk @greenlibdems.org.uk
