Hope and good auspices here in @amyjanebeer.bsky.social's piece on mingling the waters of local springs and rivers in celebration of a River Rights Charter. Community, brought together to embrace a little magic and speak up for Yorkshire waterways. Thank you Amy! #GoodGreenNews

@hookland.bsky.social Such a splendid CD today as @amyjanebeer.bsky.social takes us on a purposeful meander.

Today about 100 people took part in a mass trespass in the Prime Minister’s constituency. There’s a right to roam over just 1% of Makerfield, & today the landowner proved our point for us: putting up fencing & calling the police. @andyburnham.bsky.social - please open the door to the countryside!

Makerfield is about 40% Green Belt land, but very little of it is accessible to the thousands of people who live next door to it. We trespassed in the Winstanley Estste, which spans hundreds of acres, but where there’s no right to roam & virtually no public footpaths. @righttoroam.bsky.social

We picked up litter as we walked, learned about fungi, and observed the invasive Himalayan balsam and rhododendron that the estate has allowed to infest the streams and woods. Apparently, these activities warranted a police presence. We just want the public to be welcome in their countryside.
