We went through all of the above on the A52 section along Wollaton Park. Now we have a useful, and increasingly used, cycle lane and traffic back to the state before the roadworks. The world did not end.

One day the response will be to look at how traffic can be reduced by giving people practical alternatives eg by building a cycle lane alongside the southern half of the ring-road, a new circum-ring road bus route, through ticketing between buses to cut commuting costs, But it is not this day
