    We're getting into the season for end of year book lists. Polite note for any writer friends contributing to them: we all love our talented friends and want to support them by commending their books, but this is an opportunity to go beyond that and recognize the quality writing on the margins.

    If you feel strongly about this, I would say...file off the serial numbers and register the work. But other than that, figuring out how to poison the models by including clearly wrong things? And having lots of authors agree on those and also include those wrong things? Priceless.

    I do think that fic authors should poison their works (agreed upon conventions that are completely wrong) to mess up scraping though.

    And much of this hasn't actually been fully battle tested, so where exactly those lines are drawn is unclear. Nonetheless: it would probably not help you a whole lot in the fight against AI scraping to copyright your work.
