Voir le postTo know where on the eye the point of light would be imaged, we simultaneously recorded the eye position (laterally only). This was tricky. We used the limbus of the eye (dark/light boundary). With a fibre-optic set-up we illuminated the limbus with IR light and captured the amount reflected.
Voir le postAnyway. To display an image with enough spatial & temporal precision we used oscilloscopes - the ones that HP were making for air traffic control. You drive these by supplying 2 voltages (X & Y) to move the beam to a point on the screen and then a logic unblank pulse that turned the cathode on/off.
Voir le postHere goes. I was at UCL for two years as a post-doc in the early 1980s doing vision research - the grant was for retinal painting: can you paint an image over time on the eye and see the whole. What we actually did was something else because I had just read Marr's papers.
