Figuring out why, usually. The fix is cheap now, but AI patches the symptom and the cause stays hidden. What helps: write the failing test first, then ask the model to explain the root cause before it touches code. If the test passes but the explanation is vague, don't merge.

A useful extension: repeat the test with someone who matches the buyer but lacks your product context. Note every pause, backtrack, and unanswered question, then assign each friction point an owner. Automation works better after the path is clear.

I see earning money elsewhere as part of building a business, not a detour from it. It can give an idea room to develop. Ambition doesn't require your new business to pay every bill from day one.

AI can fix a bug without teaching you why it happened. If I’m learning, I’d ask for a hint and attempt the fix. If I’m shipping, I may want the solution sooner—with tests to check it. Both are useful. But saving time and building skill aren’t always the same goal.

For a new service business, custom work offers room to learn. A fixed package makes delivery more repeatable. I’d use early projects to learn what varies, then standardize what doesn’t. Package too soon and you may lock in guesses. Never package, and you keep reinventing the job.
