    i understand that, and interaction does take two people, but a lot of writers do try to promote themselves to crickets all the time. even a visual component doesn't help -- even in the last days of Fun Tumblr, my engagement wasn't great and i tried to do multi-media as best as possible

    I began to think about the wording when I saw someone say they were fighting just on principle because they didn't like how "entitled" writers were to attention/hits/kudos like the words they read about engagement triggered them to spend a whole day fighting for something they don't care about

    "Writers just want engagement from fellow fans" has been twisted to "greedy status hungry losers want to exploit real fans for hits to sell their fics as books" so would "we just want you guys to interact with us as fellow fans" helped stop that knee-jerk response?
