    - Feldon's Cane was supposed to be an "Ice Cone" to call out "Don Felice" but was changed when the art depicted a cane. - Alchor's Tomb was meant to be "Alchor's Tome." A misphrasing led to the art depicting a tomb, hence the name change. - These and others were mocked in Bronze Calendar.

    - Similarly, Morphling was originally meant to be a reprint of Clone as Wizards attempted to make it work in the rules again. When the rules manager couldn't make it work, R&D designed Morphling instead. When they figured it out in Onslaught, the art was a more direct callback to Alpha's art.

    - The Zendikar printing of Pillarfield Ox has flavor text explaining that Zendikari nomads would curse at them in unique ways. Every future printing of the card included a new piece of flavor text depicting these curses, all spoken by Bruse Tarl. His card depicts a Pillarfield Ox in the background.

    - Tenth Edition foils removed reminder text from cards. While a number of players know about this, not nearly as many are aware that it freed up space on some cards that it allowed flavor text to be added instead, making the foils extra unique.
