  This is a great post for those on either side of it... Looking back, early on, the grief, loss and mourning that comes with illness could be consuming. My shield and cope was to carry on like it was nothing and that I was fine. It took a longtime to recognize others were involved.

  I've not touched alcohol in 20 years. I've had an unfortunate glass here & there between that time, but I can't imbibe if I ever go to parties (I don't go to parties)

  This is such important work. Kids often sense something is different anyway, and honest age-appropriate conversations build trust. The "love doesn't disappear when bodies get complicated" framing is beautiful. Thank you for creating this resource.
