  I'll have to look this up, thank you! Never heard of it. Does it do both Spanish and Japanese? I'd also like to learn Chinese, Russian and Arabic but one step at a time.

  Some of our English words are Latin in origin, and that’s because of the Roman Empire. The Romans introduced Latin into our language as well. That’s why it’s easier for us English speakers to learn Spanish, because the two languages are closely related.

  I need to learn more languages. At this point, there's just a smattering of Spanish in my brain, plus ya malo govoryu po-Russki, and that's about it. Oh, and I can read the Greek alphabet out loud (plus Cyrillic). (Plus Tengwar.)

  And how many Brits have moved to Spain without even attempting to learn Spanish? This requirement is extremely hypocritical. I actually do think it's good to be able to speak the relevant language, but bc it facilitates communication, not as punishment. And are the Govt going to help ppl learn?
