Sometimes that results in right-wing Christians thinking that Jews agree with them about politics & decide that they “love” Jews on that basis, but then attack the majority of Jews who don’t hold those political beliefs. Sometimes that results in liberal Christians blaming Jews for right-wing crap.

It does not matter that it isn’t true. It doesn’t matter that we can point to internal Jewish community polling consistently showing what the majority of US Jews’ priorities and political beliefs and voting patterns are. When Christians claim to speak for Jews, other Christians believe them.

this is why I get so upset about Trump and the Christian right invoking Jews or ‘Judeo-Christian values’ when advancing their destructive policies. There are lots of people who do not know any/many Jews and when Christian politicians make claims about what Jews support/believe, people listen to them
