We are still however trying to see if we can assess the dynamics also more directly from the data. I will have a look at whether DSA could be helpful here!
Post anzeigenThank for the response! We discuss Qian et al. in our paper and have student teacher setups (appendix) where we are able to recover non-fixed point dynamics when the teacher has transient dynamics. My guess is that with 1000s of units across 10_000s of single trials we are in a different regime.
Post anzeigenWhat kind of dynamics underlie sequence working memory? In the last project of my PhD we developed and analysed RNNs fitted to multi-session single-unit data of macaques. Now out on: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... With @jakhmack.bsky.social and data from Chen et al., Neuron 2024. [1/4]
Post anzeigenIt was a great pleasure having Mitchell explain his work on Dynamical Similarity Analysis to our lab. We learned a lot and got some new ideas about how to look at our datasets.
Post anzeigenTLDR: Predictive grid cells (science.org/doi/10.1126/...): 1) are a robust feature of rodent MEC 2) emerge in RNNs trained to path-integrate (w/o any explicit prediction loss) 3) may be present even during sleep, suggesting they are playing a more general role beyond prediction 2/
