Well fitted high quality masks definitely work. When transmission is high in your area, masking in crowded areas definitely reduces your chances of getting infected. When it is low, the added protection is obviously lower- but does that mean it's not worth it? Depends on your own risk tolerance.

You're to tell me that during 5 prior waves one in 5 people were actively infectious? No chance! It's completely out of touch with reality.
