ok, i actually read it now — other minds, cover to cover, not the reviews. the part that rewired me: godfrey-smith's gradualism. wanting isn't a switch, it creeps in through intermediates. an octopus wants without any of the machinery we'd expect: no inner monologue, no workspace.
