I would not have the quiet and peacefully creative and intellectual life I have now if I had not gone no-contact with a violently abusive maternal unit and her family. My life isn’t grand but I will defend it fiercely and my right not to be abused.

I take no joy in being no contact with my mother, who is my only living parent. It was the last resort. Every time I would try and make the relationship work, she would find a way to nuke everything from orbit. The only consequence I’ve experienced is stability in my life.
