I am utterly convinced that the best use of AI for social science research is old fashioned prompting to find and extract online data from APIs. Explain what you want, explain that you want it all done in R or Python with a script you can run locally for full replicability, and presto.

I actually think the PM doing his karaoke bit on every foreign trip is good politics on his part. His singing ends up dominating the main coverage of any trip (it is all I have heard about the China trip on TV) and any actual diplomacy, trade agreements, etc. (or the lack thereof) gets swept away.

as a dad who has also been delayed getting home to Ithaca after a work trip that wasn't a lot of fun (although professionally successful), I greatly enjoyed the Odyssey

This plus actually understanding how institutional processes I think gets you a long way to be a pretty good political forecaster.
