I think it is both that and a crude understanding of plot! In SNW intimacy has a formula: you get placed under pressure until you reveal your deepest secrets, and then a Character Bond is formed. Like they need a plot beat they can point to as a receipt. "See? We covered that part; let's move on"

i think if you want to use LLMs you should admit to wanting to use LLMs. and then deal with the consequences of those thoughts and actions.

i don't think local LLM models are any meaningfully different from corporate LLM models in terms of their negative impact on human culture
