The idea of pulling up by bootstraps is rubbish, and it’s a funny play on words, it’s literally impossible to pull self up by bootstraps. It’s a fine phrase for moralizing, though, doing something that is impossible but overcoming the reality of gravity, by willpower. 🙄

Buffet's father was a Congressman and stock trader already so nope. Mark Cuban did come from the working class, but I don't believe anyone is self made and if you could go into his past you'll find he had a LOT of help along the way. It's impossible to do otherwise.

Besos got a $300,000 from his parents to start Amazon. Musk had money from his parents emerald mines in apartheid South Africa. Gates got his break when his mom, a VP at IBM got him a sweetheart deal with his DOS operating system, Trump from his draft dodging dad. Buffett and Cuban are self made.
