@ebcc1.bsky.social@ebcc1.bsky.social → @ebcc.info9/ A vast amount of data & population trends included in the indicators are from bird surveys organised by @btobirds.bsky.social like @bbs-birds.bsky.social, @webs-gsmp.bsky.social & @smp-seabirds.bsky.social on behalf of partnerships with @rspbscience.bsky.social & @jncc.bsky.social. Thank you all!
Show Post8/ Indicators like this are vitally important as they act as a reliable gauge for the overall health of the natural environment, helping governments and conservationists measure broader biodiversity loss and guide environmental policy.
Show Post7/ There’s some positive news in the Wintering Waterbird Indicator, which has increased by 88% in the UK over the long term. However, since 2000 wildfowl have gradually declined.
Show Post6/ There’s been a 19% decline in the Upland Breeding Bird Indicator since 1994. Over the long term Peregrine Falcon has declined, along with Dotterel and Whinchat, whereas Red Kite and Stonechat have increased.
Show Post5/ There’s long-term decline for Arctic Skua, Herring Gull & Shag, influencing the Breeding Seabird Indicator which has declined by 52% in the UK since 1986. BTO has recently improved the seabird analysis methodology, making @smp-seabirds.bsky.social trends more robust.
