"if one is at all interested in ... questions [about sociology's alleged politicization or declining standards] one will not know anything more after reading this report than one did before, except for the opinions of Rubin and her allies." tl;dr: Rubin, a non-sociologist, doesn't bring receipts.

John Levi Martin's detailed methodological critique of the "Rubin report" about sociology probably should be required reading for all sociologists. Well worth your time. One take-away is maybe our internal disciplinary fractiousness has some good sides. 1/ osf.io/preprints/so...

"A Reader’s Guide To The Rubin Report." John Levi Martin on @ashleytrubin.bsky.social's disciplinary report on sociology: "focused on whether she actually marshaled evidence to support her arguments, and whether she correctly represents her sources." osf.io/preprints/so... @socarxiv.bsky.social
