R.I.P. Ann Hornaday of the Washington Post, the warmest and friendliest film critic I ever knew. We used to cross paths at the Middleburg FF, where she was a tremendously welcoming presence. She was at work on a book about the making of All the President’s Men. We need it now more than ever.

great simple recipe for when u score markdown skirt steak: mix up a couple tablespoons worth of spice mix, whisk it into 2tb of olive oil, marinate the steak for an hour or so, then pop it under the broiler on High for 3-4 minutes per side
