If you feel like things have gotten worse under Trump, that is absolutely true in the sense that even more people are suffering. It's not true in the sense that these horrors are new or unique. Trump is valuable to Russia specifically because he's not smart or subtle enough to hide the reality.

But the entity of the US government was built on violence, is sustained by violence, and has finally expanded beyond its own racialized neighbourhoods where it was being practised all along. It has finally brought its terror home from from overseas where it's been in use for decades.

And no, this isn't me saying every American is a world-terrorizing White supremacist, far from it. If anything, that helps the White nationalist narrative. Many Americans have done amazing things and built amazing movements--often resisting their own government (e.g., Civil Rights.)
