Even control birds lacking a light-sensitive protein sang more adult-like songs when I shined a laser into a song learning brain region I suspected laser heating ⬆️neural activity. I ⬆️ it another way (excitatory DREADD) and birds learned faster (but less accurately)! www.nature.com/articles/s41...
