Why would we go somewhere where a) unless lily white, we could wind up in an El Salvadorian gulag b) be shot whilst getting groceries c) randomly run into someone wearing a red hat who wants to go to war with us and probably is carrying a concealed weapon I will pass, thanks.

Before Trump the status quo in the US was that Canada was a blind spot for most Americans; a little brother they could just pat on the head condescendingly now and then. They didn’t have to worry about respect. Returning to this status quo is not good enough. Not by a long shot.
