I was put in so many positions where I was made to feel that I had to prove I was not some existential threat. There were times I would lie about who I was for my safety, claiming I was Iranian, which I'm very disheartened to say would not work today.

I faced harassment in school and work when targeted and was even privy to horrifying, genocidal rhetoric of people who did not even realize who they were talking to was who they were talking about. Don't even get me started on all the special treatment I've gotten at TSA checkpoints.
